Kristina Delgado Zills is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) with Independent Practice. She attained a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2010 from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2007 from the University of Houston, where she graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude). Kristina has practiced as an LPA for more than eight years, throughout which time she has gained extensive experience working with various populations, specializing in early adolescence to older adults, including individual psychotherapy, behavior management, and mental health diagnosis. She is adept with the treatment of an array of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, trauma/PTSD, bipolar, ADHD, adjustment issues such as those related to significant life events (e.g., divorce, loss of employment, disability, etc.), grief, teenage/adolescent issues, self-esteem issues, communication difficulties, poor social skills, and impulse control issues. She has also enjoyed working with individuals who suffer from chronic pain/illness to teach them strategies to aid in reducing their tension and pain and improve quality of life. Examples include neck/back pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic migraines, as well as conversion disorders including PNES (psychogenic non-epileptic seizures) with which she has treated and diagnosed multiple cases in the past. Additionally, Kristina enjoys working with individuals who are post-bariatric procedure, focusing on their weight loss goals, maintaining a proper/healthy diet and exercise program, and ensuring that they are following their physician’s recommendations. Also finding replacement behaviors for unhealthy eating and discussing/discovering any unhealthy distortions/negative programming and beliefs and/or negative prior experiences that may have contributed to their weight gain as part of collaborating on a plan to maintain a healthy lifestyle, maintain a healthy weight, and improve their quality of life, as well as providing them with support and encouragement throughout this lifestyle change.
Kristina uses a variety of therapeutic approaches, which are chosen based on client needs. These include Holistic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Behavior Therapy (management/modification), as well as Client-Centered, Gestalt, and Existential Therapy. Kristina also has proficient knowledge of an array of assessment batteries with extensive experience performing psychological and psychoeducational evaluations.
